Present Simple is used to describe any action which repeats itself.
It can be used to describe routine:
Example: I wake up at 6 a.m. every day.
It can be used to describe ‘general truths’ or facts
Example: The Earth revolves around the Sun.
It can be used for habits
Example: He always reads the newspaper with his morning tea.
- Subject- Verb Agreement:
We add s/es at the end of the verb with 3rd person singular

We can also use the following adverbs with Present Simple tense:
- Always
- Often
- Daily
- Usually
- Occassionally
- Hardly
- Sometimes
- Generally
- Every Day etc.
Example: Before sleeping she always brushes her teeth.
They usually go to the nearby market to buy vegetables.
We visit our parents every year on Christmas.
Exercise 1: Complete the sentences using the following verbs:

- When making negative sentences we use ‘do not’ or ‘don’t’ except when creating sentences with 3rd person singular, in that case, we use ‘does not’ or ‘doesn’t’
Example: I do not speak Spanish, but I would like to learn it.
He does not eat spicy food.
Similarly, we use do and does when creating questions in the Simple Present tense
Example: Do you watch English movies?
Does she wear glasses?
What do you usually have for breakfast?
How does she go to the gym?
